Dylanfest 2025 Scene Report
a podcast about my mini music festival
Here’s my scene report of Dylanfest 2025! So fun.
Anytime I throw a show, I call it Dylanfest — tongue in cheek, obviously, but also in somewhat of a tradition of the scene I grew up in, in Seattle, where people would just throw big house parties or just-a-few-steps-beyond-DIY shows, call it ______ Fest, and roll with it.
But my flagship effort has really become this weekend-long event that I produce in the summer on Orcas Island, in Washington State’s San Juans, with my friends Jay Blackington & Jocelyn Cecil of the restaurant Houlme, and RJ Myers & Ali Boe of the rural DIY space/personal home Alder Vulture. Really cool people, insanely gorgeous place, outrageous amounts of generosity and hospitality extended to make this happen.

This August, I threw what I believe to be…kind of my masterpiece of a hang. In the spirit of my podcast MUSIC PERSON, and it’s now-signature music festival scene reports, I did one of my own festival, haha. It turned into more of an hour-long audio essay about fun, music, and purpose. I appreciate it as a document of my hard work and vision, and also credit my editor Jake Bowman for all the toil it took to put this together! Who knows how long I’ll get to do stuff like this. Good to archive it while ya can.
Here’s the flyer for the show, which I made, for posterity:
You can follow @dylanfest on Instagram if you wanna stay in touch.
You can also fiscally subscribe to this Substack, or to Music Person on Patreon, to enable my having-a-vision-and-executing-it addiction.
yay,
